It's 86º as I write this. I did the first long run of the season this morning. The warm weather is settling in and I couldn't be happier. There is a simplicity about being out there, no phone, with nothing more than a few bottles of sports drink, a tank top, shorts, and shoes. For me, running is the best form of meditation.

Everyone who drives into Lake Placid from the Northway passes this barn. I would bet 1 out of every 4 people take a photo. This is an overcooked black and white HDR. I overcooked it to show the texture in the sky and the sun burning through the clouds. This is an 8 image composite of images dark to light to achieve the tonal range.

I have seen Mike Doughty too many times to count. In the 90's, I was slightly obsessed with the band Soul Coughing. While most people know them as a one hit wonder, the lyrical content and complex arrangement they served up in their heyday was something that spoke to me. A decade later, I still love the music. Mike's solo stuff is even better. Last night was a great combination of readings from his new book, The Book of Drugs, a broad assortment of his solo music, and a Q&A about his time with Soul Coughing. It was the best I have ever seen him.
