Uncle Sam Project : April 2013

I'm honored to be one of the 25 artists selected to design and produce an Uncle Sam statue for the City of Troy's Downtown Business Improvement District. The Kaleel Jamison Consulting Group has asked me to produce their statue. I've been associated with them since 2000 and I am happy to produce such an important piece of art for both them and my home town. The statues will be mounted to the sidewalks throughout downtown Troy and officially presented on April's Troy Night Out. It's no secret that I shoot a lot of photos of Troy, NY. My greatest compliment is when I can make life long residents see their city in a new way. My images of the Collar City will factor significantly in my piece.

The Original Hero

I have been using GoPro cameras since 2004. It's awesome to see how far they have come since their original wrist mounted model. I still have 5 of these original Heroes in the original packaging. I have shot with GoPros under all sorts of conditions. There aren't many days I don't have one in my camera bag.

Starlight View of Albany

[Above] After seeing the remarkable and heartbreaking images that came out of the blackouts following the destruction of Superstorm Sandy, I have begun experimenting with night vision technology with plans for future projects. Above is a test image from a vantage point above the Albany skyline.

Long Shadows

I took the day off to drop some dirt and ride through the long shadows. Nothing like the simple act of going fast on a bike to reframe a busy schedule. Riding keeps me in the present.

Racing the Rain : 10.15.2012

Every New England Autumn has a few days like today, warm and windy. I try to take full advantage of each one of these days every season. I played hookey today to ride my favorite network of trails. The wind was strong enough to bring down the late season leaves like snowflakes.

I love quite sports done in the outdoors.

Forgotten Walls

Anyone who has ever walked in the woods in the Northeast will recognize these rocks. There are hundreds of miles of stone walls running through the woodlands of New York and New England. It is easy to imagine the hard labor required to build these lasting monuments.
