Project 365 : Mosaic

[Above] John Bulmer 365 : Mosaic Poster
A year ago, I started a Project 365 on a whim. Over the course of an hour, I bought a domain and decided to commit to a project that would take me an untold amount of time and driving and one year to complete. The last year has been strange and at times, difficult. Tomorrow at 7:30am we are scheduled to inspect our newly completed home. Construction started on it last October. Within the next week, we start the next chapter in our lives after what has been a difficult year of change, moving, storage units and doing without. Day 103 was the last day in the home we lived in since 2004, the home we brought our daughter home from the hospital to. This project means even more to me as it ends on the eve of those events.

Over the past year, this project has spanned much of New England and all types of weather conditions. At times, coming up with a new, professional quality image everyday has been difficult, but ultimately rewarding. Over the last year, I have learned to study subjects, redefine what I consider subject matter, and read weather patterns to get the most out of available light and color. With mixed emotions I close out www.johnbulmer365.com. I am proud of the dedication it took to complete the year.

Project 365 : Day 66 : Sixty Six

[Left] Day 66 from my Project 365: www.johnbulmer365.com. Summer is flying by and the weather is living up to expectations. New England has had an abundance of warm, sunny days and beautiful sunsets. And while doing a Project 365 is sometimes frustrating, it has made me develop a keener eye and shoot subjects I would not have considered otherwise. I have some great travel and cool assignments coming up over the next few months. Check www.johnbulmerimages.com for updates.

Moderate Risk

Today is a crazy weather day in New England. There is a serious low moving across the eastern half of the country and zeroing in on New York. I am just getting back from Mount Snow. I was on the hunt for content for Velogothic at the Eastern States Cup downhill. I wasn't going to go, but I can never seem stop myself. Didn't rain much until I pulled into the main lodge. Sitting in my car next to a few race support vehicles as sheets of rain turned the parking lot into a bog, I knew there was no way I was shooting today. My camera was packed in a Camera Armor Seattle Sling, but there was no way to shoot in the intense precip. The conditions were epic and almost impossible to turn away from as fog obscured the top of the mountain and storms swirled in the distance. Would have made for incredible pictures. But sometimes you have to know when to walk away.

Took almost two and a half hours to get home as the NOAA radio kept firing up with tornado watches and severe thunderstorm warnings. There is another meet at Mount Snow in a few weeks. Hope the weather is better, but not perfect. [Wink]
