Wildfires are terrible, controlled burns are different and necessary for ridding a forest of dead leaves, tree limbs, and other debris. In fact, a prescribed burn can actually help prevent a destructive wildfire by removing fuels from the landscape. Controlled burns can also reduce insect populations and destroy invasive plants. And I have to admit, these places are fascinating for documenting the aftermath.

Sean Rowe and the Rensselaer Land Trust

[Above] I got the chance to do a photoshoot with ANTI records artist Sean Rowe this morning in the Robert Ingalls Preserve in Stephentown, New York. I'm working with Sean, the Rensselaer Land Trust, and the Troy Music Hall for a benefit concert on April 12, 2014 to help preserve open spaces, watersheds, and natural habitats in Rensselaer County.
