Bargain City

[Above] Bargain City. Albany. New York

Welcome to Bargain City where most nights, you can find a metropolis of squatters under this sign. It's almost a campground atmosphere. Sitting on pallets and broken down lawn chairs, telling stories and drinking from paper bags. This street was capped years ago. There is never any traffic. Just across the street is the green taxi graveyard. Broken down taxis sit behind barbed wire. Welcome to bargain city where the windows don't have screens and the couldn't care less about Jon and Kate Plus 8 or the new iPhone.

And through a break in the trees to the south, the glass domes and high rises of Albany gleam clean in the late afternoon sun.
